Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve Family Photos | Montalvo Family
One of my favorite places in San Diego to photograph families with little kids is Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve.
This off-the-beaten-path trail attached to the preserve is a great place to bring little ones who may have a lot of energy to burn, or just like to explore their surroundings a bit more. It's green - a total surprise for San Diego, especially in the summer! - and has great parking, both keys in my book!
How do family sessions with me flow?
We’ll start with the “fridge shot,” that nice smiling photo your parents will display on their fridge. From there, I get everything I can with the kids: each parent with the little ones, the kids by themselves. At this point, the kids need a break, so parents get some time alone in front of the camera. I always close the session by asking the kids if there are any poses they want to try - like dad helping with the Superman pose - and ask the kids for some “help” taking photos, then we do one final “fridge shot” for good measure. And that’s it!
