This surprise military homecoming on Camp Pendleton was unlike any other.
When your return date is smack dab in the middle of your kids' birthdays, the only way to greet them for the first time after six months is obviously with a surprise birthday present!
Coming back ahead of the rest of his unit, Josh and Candice reunited outside of Josh's office in a rather unassuming - but no less special - fashion.
Then it was time for the big surprise!
Candice had kept Josh's return date under wraps, but told Kara and Landon they would have a birthday present waiting for them after Kara returned from school. As soon as the kids saw the huge red wrapped box on their driveway, they sprinted over and immediately went to unwrapping it.
When Candice lifted the box off Josh, you could hear a pin drop before Kara squealed, "Daddy, you're home!"
Cue Candice and I immediately dissolving into tears.
A daddy's girl, it was obviously how ecstatic Kara was to have her dad back! She kept hugging him, and all she wanted to do was play with him.
This homecoming was unlike any other, and one none of us will soon forget. Welcome home, Captain Spradlin!
