Carlsbad Extended Family Photos

This extended family session on Carlsbad's South Ponto Beach was one of the most joyful sessions I've had.

Deb reached out to me a few months ago to let me know that her family of three, her parents, her in laws and her brother and his girlfriend were visiting San Diego and they wanted to capture the visit. It was their first vacation with their baby. With the whole family in one place, visiting San Diego for the first time, she knew it was one they'd want to remember.

We arrived on South Ponto Beach, a state beach in south Carlsbad, as the sun was making its decent over the horizon. Spring sunsets in San Diego are truly magnificent. It's almost as if the sky knows that May Gray is on its way and treats us to some gorgeous vistas. This evening was no different. There was a gentle breeze just off the coast and we all had a great time making their little one giggle and just enjoying each other's company.

What makes South Ponto Beach unique is the rocky shoreline after a wide expanse of white sand. A scrub-lined walkway of pristine sand opens up to the shoreline and gives us plenty of space to hang out. We got a beautiful sun glow through the scrub, illuminating the backdrop.
