Strength, Resilience, and Joy | A Family Session That Reminds Us What Matters
Did you know that one in 4,000 newborns have strokes?
It’s a statistic most people don’t think about—until it happens to them.
When I first spoke with Anna, she told me about the new season of life her family was stepping into: a big move, a fresh start, and her husband’s new job. They were ready for a new chapter after what had been an incredibly difficult year.
Her pregnancy had been healthy, her delivery uneventful—by all accounts, everything had gone as expected. But what they didn’t know was that their son had suffered a stroke in utero. At just a few days old, he was fighting for his life in the NICU, his future uncertain. Three weeks later, they brought him home, carrying both the weight of what they had been through and the hope of what was to come.
Now, at eight months old, you’d never guess what this little boy had overcome. He’s thriving—moving both sides of his body, growing stronger every day. His parents’ energy is contagious. Their gratitude, their joy, their love radiates from them.
Finding Joy in the Hardest Seasons
This family’s story is a reminder of something so simple yet so easy to forget: even in the hardest moments, there is beauty. There is strength. There is love that carries us through.
During our session, I watched as they laughed together, held each other close, and celebrated every little thing—the giggles, the snuggles, the tiny milestones that mean everything. They don’t take a single moment for granted.
And isn’t that what family is about? Holding onto the joy, even when life is unpredictable. Finding light, even when things feel dark. Showing up for each other, always.
More Than Just Photos
Sessions like this are why I love what I do. Photography isn’t just about capturing pretty pictures—it’s about documenting stories, honoring resilience, and preserving the love that keeps families going. It’s about reminding us all to cherish the now, because every day is a gift.
If you’re in San Diego and want to capture your family’s story—the big milestones, the quiet moments, and everything in between—I’d be honored to be part of it.
Let’s create something beautiful together. Reach out here!
